Borderlands 4 could be getting console FOV sliders after all

Borderlands 4

Is Borderlands 4 making you feel queasy? You’re not the only one. While some PC players have been running into performance issues, console players have been complaining about the lack of an FOV slider, linking the game’s fixed FOV (field of view) settings to motion sickness.

That’s not to say every Borderlands 4 player has run into these difficulties but, between Reddit, Twitter and so on, there are plenty of players clamouring for an FOV slider. “Man, I’ve tried to play it twice today. Both times I get that “car-sick” feel after about 15 minutes and have to stop,” reads one Reddit comment.

“I got about 2 hours into the game and have started experiencing quite severe motion sickness. I’ve turned off screen shake, motion blur, headbobbing and post processing but nothing helps,” reads another. Now, Gearbox has confirmed it’s looking into adding an FOV slider to the console version of the game (it’s already present on PC).

“Vault Hunters! We have heard your feedback on FOV (Field of View) sliders on console. The team is currently exploring how to bring these sliders to both Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 versions,” states a tweet from the official Borderlands account.

Does that mean it’s definitely going to happen? It’s not a cast-iron guarantee. Randy Pitchford tweeted that he’s concerned about how an FOV slider might impact gameplay. “There’s some dreams I have where an FOV setting might affect fairness,” he tweeted, adding “I see this is important to you so we’re looking at it.”

So if Gearbox can make it work, they’ll make it work. Speaking of making things work, the developer has also just released a patch they hope will “..help improve stability for a wide range of PCs”. We have our fingers crossed they can deliver on both fronts.
